Five places on Texel where I most love to marry couples

Texel has no shortage of beautiful places, but some of them stay with me. These are five of my favourites — and when they are at their most beautiful.

De Slufter

Wide, wild and never the same, thanks to the light and the wind. Early in the morning or just before sunset De Slufter is at its most beautiful — and at its quietest.

For those who love a bit of conviviality without giving up the view. A ceremony with your feet in the sand and a drink the moment you have said yes.

De Cocksdorp lighthouse

For the couple who like a story with some weight to it. The red lighthouse has been the island’s beacon for over a hundred years — a fine symbol for a new beginning.

Pine forest near De Koog

Soft light between the trunks, the scent of resin, and an intimacy you will not find anywhere else on the island. Perfect for a small ceremony.

Sheep barn in the polder

Authentically Texel, with the calm of the hinterland. A surprising place for anyone looking for something other than beach or dunes.
